GSPC leader “Droudkel” created cells for counterfeiting and laundering money

The criminal court of Boumerdes, east of Algiers, considered a case on terrorism that discloses the other face of GSPC or AQIM led by Droudkel and the problems within his terrorist group.

 

• Details of the case showed the existence of back up cells, specialised in counterfeiting and bleaching money, as the court sentenced the involved persons to life prison and executions.

• Algerian security services arrested the accused “Fateh.D” on February 3, 2009, and found food, cameras, and mobile phone in his car, for delivery in the terrorist strongholds, and after inspection, they found an SMS in his mobile phone containing requests to buy other materials.

• After investigation, the accused admitted that he is dealing with terrorists, including an accused on the run “Kh.Karim”, who took him on board of his car, bought with counterfeited money, several times.

• Investigation found the existence of machines for forging money, purchased for this purpose, especially after the end of sources of funding and arrest of back up cells, used by Droudkel’s fellows to acquire their needs, as original money turned to funds of some Emirs or leaders using other names, in order to be smuggled abroad after being converted into Euros or Dollars.

• Similar cases uncovered different investment deals by leaders of terrorist groups such as buying trucks in order to plunder sand and for use in agricultural investment, as well as engaging in different projects.

• The accused denied the charge of funding terrorists, while he admitted meeting with the terrorist “Kh.Karim” and asked him to take him on board of his car but he refused and did not know that he was a terrorist.

• The public prosecution sought to shed the maximum sentence against the arrested “D.Fateh”, and after deliberations the accused was sentenced to three years prison, while the accused “Kh.Karim”, “H.Noreddine” and “S.Belkacem” sentenced to execution in absentia, as they are still escaping.
